Chongqing Jiangjin Degan Industrial Park
China Knowledge Press, June 2011, Pages: 25
Chongqing Jiangjin Degan Industrial Park (Chongqing Jiangjin Degan IP) rated “B” by China Knowledge in a research report on China’s industrial real estate published today. The industrial park was approved and established by the Chongqing municipal government in 2002 as a municipal-level development zone.
The industrial park is located in Jiangjin District, 40 km from Chongqing’s downtown and 70 km from Jiangbei International Airport. Transportation mainly relies on railway and waterways. The Chengdu-Chongqing Railway runs through Chongqing Jiangjin Degan IP, while the Lanjiatuo River Port, with annual handling capacity of 3.4 million tons, is only 1 km from the park.
Jiangjin District is located in the southwestern part of Chongqing 50 km from downtown. The district is rich in mineral and forest resources. It is also an important national production base for grain, oranges and pork.
The industrial park’s pillar industries are equipment manufacturing, fine chemicals, food processing, textiles and port logistics. There are five corresponding subsidiary parks under the administration of Chongqing Jiangjin Degan IP: the Machinery and Electronics Park, the Chemical Park, the Food Processing Park, the Textile Park and the Port Logistics Park.
According to development plans, the Machinery and Electronics Park, which has a land area of 5.5 sq km, is expected to establish an industrial chain for equipment manufacturing. Three of Chongqing’s top 50 industrial companies, Chongqing Weichai Engine Plant, Chongqing Gearbox and CISDI Engineering, have set up businesses in the park.
In 2007, Chongqing Sanxia Paints, a well-known Shenzhen-listed paint manufacturer, moved to the Chemical Park. The resettlement of this chemical giant will facilitate the establishment of a chemical paint industrial chain within Chongqing Jiangjin Degan IP.
The Port Logistics Park is adjacent to Lanjiatuo River Port, which has the capacity to handle 3,000-ton ships.
Industrial parks rated B are viewed as poorly established. Much effort is necessary for the creation of an attractive investment environment in these parks. There are 45 with ‘B’ rating among the 254 national or municipal-level industrial parks located across the country.
