Chongqing Jinqiao Industrial Park

China Knowledge Press, June 2011, Pages: 25

Chongqing Jianqiao Industrial Park (Chongqing Jianqiao IP) rated “BB” by China Knowledge in a research report on China’s industrial real estate published today. The industrial park was approved and established by the Chongqing municipal government in June 2003 as a municipal-level development zone.

Chongqing Jianqiao is 30 km from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and within a 30-minute drive of the freight railway station. In addition, Qiezixi Dock, the second-largest container dock after Cuntan Dock, is adjacent to the park.

Chongqing is rich in advanced human resources. It has 61 colleges and universities that produced 130,000 graduates in 2010. Four key national-level laboratories and five national level engineering research centers are also located in the city. These institutions are able to provide plenty of highly skilled talent for the development of Chongqing Jianqiao IP.

The industrial park’s pillar industries include advanced manufacturing, new materials, medicine, food processing, information technology and modern logistics. In 2008, the park’s industrial output reached RMB 10.9 billion.

Approximately 70 enterprises have settled in the park. Representative firms in the advanced manufacturing industry include Sany Heavy Industry, Chongqing Kington Industry Group and Chongqing Wanmei Mechanical & Electrical, while Chongqing Polycomp International Corp (CPIC) represents the new materials industry. CPIC is renowned for its fiberglass.

Representative firms in the other industries include Chongqing Jingquan Medicament Development for medicine, and Chongqing Jiawei Beer, Chongqing FineWay Technology and Chongqing Taigang Transport for the food processing, electronic information and modern logistics industries, respectively.

U.S.-based Covanta Energy, an internationally recognized owner and operator of energy-from-waste and power generation projects, established a procurement center within Chongqing Jianqiao IP in 2007.

Industrial parks rated BB are considered attractive at a below-average level. Industrial parks with this rating are typically either in the development stage or are lacking certain important elements. There are 50 with BB rating among 254 national and municipal level industrial parks.
