China Knowledge Press, June 2011, Pages: 25
Chongqing Shuangqiao Industrial Park (Chongqing Shuangqiao IP) rated “BB” by China Knowledge in a research report on China’s industrial real estate published today. The industrial park was approved and established by the Chongqing municipal government in March 2003 as a municipal-level development park.
Shuangqiao District, where the industrial park is situated, is an emerging automobile manufacturing district in China. It is located in the western part of Chongqing, 80 km from downtown and 115 km from Jiangbei International Airport. In 2008, the passenger throughput of the airport amounted to 11.1 million persons, ranking tenth among all the airports in China. Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, is 269 km from Shuangqiao District. The Chengdu-Chongqing Freeway, the Hechuan-Yongchuan Freeway and the Nanchong-Rongchang Freeway, as well as the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway run adjacent to the district.
Between 2003 and 2007, Chongqing Shuangqiao IP invested RMB 700 million in the construction of its infrastructure. Well-developed roads, communication systems and systems supplying natural gas, water and electricity have been put in place.
There are approximately 41 enterprises with 59 plants established in the industrial park. The total contracted investment of these programs is RMB 8.4 billion. Heavy-duty vehicles and auto parts are two of the park’s major industries. Chongqing Yunhe Automobile Manufacturing Co Ltd, an investor in the park, engages mainly in heavy-duty vehicle modifications and auto parts manufacturing. It has invested RMB 140 million in Chongqing Shuangqiao IP. The enterprise commenced operations at the end of 2007 and produced 5,000 specialty heavy vehicles in 2008.
In addition, Double Coin Holdings’ Chongqing tire plant, with an investment of RMB 3 billion, is also located in the park. When construction is complete, the plant will be able to produce 6 million all-steel radial tires per year.
Industrial parks rated BB are considered attractive at a below-average level. Industrial parks with this rating are typically either in the development stage or are lacking certain important elements. There are 50 with BB rating among 254 national and municipal level industrial parks.
