Chongqing Wansheng Industrial Park (Chongqing Wansheng IP) rated “B” by China Knowledge in a research report on China’s industrial real estate published today. The industrial park was approved and established by the Chongqing municipal government in 2002 as a municipal-level development park.

Chongqing Wansheng IP is located 73 km south of Chongqing’s downtown. Transportation is not as convenient as in many other municipality-level development parks in Chongqing. Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, which ranked tenth in terms of passenger throughput among all the airports in China in 2008, and Chongqing River Port, the largest inland port in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, are approximately 100 km from the park.

Wansheng District, where Chongqing Wansheng IP is situated, is rich in mineral resources such as coal, limestone, fluorite, dolomite, soapstone, quartz sand, clay and pyrite. Proven coal reserves amount to 308 million tons. The district is also a popular tourist destination. In 2004, Wansheng District was elected as a National Excellence Tourism District. Blank Hollow and Wansheng Stone Forest were rated as AAAA state-level tourism spots by the National Tourism Administration, P. R. China.

There are three subsidiary zones under the administration of Chongqing Wansheng IP. The first zone, with a land area of 2.4 sq km, is mainly engaged in new materials, tourism, financial services and media services. The Sichuan-Hunan Highway and The Sanjiang-Wansheng Railway run through the zone. Chongqing Genius Advanced Material, a representative enterprise of the new materials industry, has established a presence in the zone.

The second subsidiary zone has a land area of 4.3 sq km. It is principally engaged in coal chemicals, processing of magnesium alloys and other materials, biopharmaceuticals and modern agriculture. Companies such as Fuyao Group Glass (Chongqing) Accessories, Chongqing Meihua Medical Equipment and Chongqing Shizhenge Pusheng Pharmaceutical are also located in this zone.

The third subsidiary zone has a land area of 3.3 sq km. It deals mainly in machinery parts processing, new materials, agricultural products processing and tourism. Fuyao Group has contracts with the zone to produce float glass.

Industrial parks rated B are viewed as poorly established. Much effort is necessary for the creation of an attractive investment environment in these parks. There are 45 with ‘B’ rating among the 254 national or municipal-level industrial parks located across the country.
