Chongqing Wanzhou Industrial Park

Chongqing Wanzhou Industrial Park (Chongqing Wanzhou IP) rated “BB” by China Knowledge in a research report on China’s industrial real estate published today. The industrial park was officially approved and established by the Chongqing municipal government in 2003 as a municipal-level development park. In 2010, it was upgraded to a state-level economic development zone.
Wanzhou District has a convenient transportation system. Its airport, Wanzhou Airport, is a national civil 4C-class (regional small-scale) airport. The airport offers scheduled flights to domestic cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Kunming. Wanzhou River Port, a national second-class river port, has a container dock with an annual handling capacity of 400,000 standard containers. Additionally, the Daxian-Wanzhou Railway, the Chongqing-Wanzhou Expressway, the Wanzhou-Kaixian Expressway and the Wanzhou-Yunyang Expressway run through the district.
Chongqing Wanzhou IP has three subsidiary parks: Tianzi Park, the Rock Salt and Natural Gas Chemical Park and Wuqiao Park. Chemicals, new materials, new energy, machinery and electronics, textiles and garments, food processing and pharmaceuticals are the park’s pillar industries.
The Rock Salt and Natural Gas Chemical Park, which has an area of 10 sq km, was approved and established by Chongqing’s municipal government in 2003 as one of three municipal-level chemical bases. It is expected to realize a gross industrial output of RMB10 billion in 2010.
Another subsidiary park, Tianzi Park, principally engages in machinery, electronics, and textiles and garments. Chang’an Kuayue Special Vehicle Co Ltd is located in this park. Its main products are commercial vehicles. In 2008, this automobile manufacturer realized an industrial output of RMB 400 million and sold 6,000 vehicles.
There are five enterprises situated in Wuqiao Park: Chongqing Inno Team Industry, Huitai Turbine Manufacturing, Chong-qing Beer Wanzhou Branch, Wanzhou Kehua Cement and Dongsong Sanxiong Electric Appliances. They mainly deal in information technology products, equipment manufacturing, beer production, cement production and electric appliances, respectively.
In 2010, Chongqing Wanzhou IP realized a value-added industrial output of RMB 23.51 billion, increased by 25.6 over the previous year. Additionally, according to development plans, Chongqing Wanzhou IP is expected to generate RMB 150 billion in gloss industrial output in 2015.
Industrial parks rated BB are considered attractive at a below-average level. Industrial parks with this rating are typically either in the development stage or are lacking certain important elements. There are 50 with BB rating among 254 national and municipal level industrial parks.
