Chongqing Wulong Baima Industrial Park (Chongqing Wulong Baima IP) rated “B” by China Knowledge in a research report published today. The industrial park was approved and established by the Chongqing municipal government in 2003 as a municipal-level development park.

Chongqing Wulong Baima IP has a convenient transportation system. It is located in Baima Town, Wulong County. State Highway 319, the Chongqing-Huaihua Railway and the Chongqing-Changsha Freeway run through the park. Additionally, Wu River Waterway, which can handle 5,000-ton ships, also traverses the park. Wulong County, located 180 km to the southeast of Chongqing’s downtown, is rich in mineral resources. Reserves of coal and bauxite amount to 40 million tons and 100 million tons, respectively.
Additionally, Wulong County is a popular tourist destination. Furong Cave, Tiankeng Sanqiao and Qingkou Tiankeng were listed as World Natural Heritage sites in 2007.

In the first quarter of 2011, gross industrial output of the park hit RMB 165 million. Chongqing Wulong Baima IP, which is comprised of the A Zone, the B Zone and the C Zone, is home to industries engaged in the equipment manufacturing, building materials, chemicals and aluminum metallurgy industries. Representative enterprises include Chongqing Gangyang Machinery Manufacture and Chongqing Dingtai Tuoyuan Alumina Development.

In November 2008, Chongqing Gangyang Machinery Manufacture Co Ltd invested RMB 128 million to build a plant to produce crankshafts in the park. The plant commenced operations in 2009 and can realize annual sales revenues of over RMB 260 million every year.

Industrial parks rated B are viewed as poorly established. Much effort is necessary for the creation of an attractive investment environment in these parks. There are 45 with ‘B’ rating among the 254 national or municipal-level industrial parks located across the country.
