Chongqing Yanjia Industrial Park (Chongqing Yanjia IP) rated “BB” by China Knowledge in a research report published today. The industrial park was approved and established by the Chongqing municipal government in 2003 as a municipal-level development zone.
Chongqing Yanjia IP is located in Changshou District. Via the Chongqing-Changshou Freeway, Chongqing Yanjia IP is located 50 km from Jiangbei International Airport, which ranked tenth in terms of passenger throughput in China in 2008. Changshou Railway Station is 3 km southwest of the park. Additionally, Fengjiawan Deep-water Port, the third-largest river port in Chongqing, is 3 km away and connected to the park by a second class highway.
The industrial park’s pillar industries include metallurgy, new building materials, machinery, packaging and printing. Approximately 101 enterprises along with 20 investment programs have been or are being set up in the park. Sixty of these enterprises have begun production. When construction is complete, they are expected to realize an annual gross industrial output of RMB 65.3 billion.
Yunnan Yuntianhua, one of the park’s investors, is principally engaged in the production of fertilizers, chemical raw materials and chemical products. It is one of China’s top 100 chemical enterprises. It has a land area of 150,667 sq m in Chongqing Yanjia IP, and has cooperated with Tsinghua University, the elite university in China, to set up a research center for glass fiber and its downstream products in the park.
Additionally, Chongqing Iron and Steel Group began moving to Chongqing Yanjia IP in 2007. The company’s total cost to relocate was RMB 16 billion. In 2010, the group is expected to be able to produce 8 million tons of iron and steel and to realize sales revenues of RMB 35.5 billion.
Industrial parks rated BB are considered attractive at a below-average level. Industrial parks with this rating are typically either in the development stage or are lacking certain important elements. There are 50 with BB rating among 254 national and municipal level industrial parks.
