Chongqing Yudong Economic Development Zone
China Knowledge Press, June 2011, Pages: 25
Chongqing Yudong Economic Development Zone (Chongqing Yudong EDZ) rated “B” by China Knowledge in a research report published today. The EDZ was established in 1992 and approved by Chongqing municipal government in 1997 as a municipal-level development park.
Chongqing Yudong EDZ has a convenient transportation system. It is adjacent to Wanzhou Railway Station 15 km from Wanzhou Airport, which is a national civil 4C-level (regional small-scale airport) airport with scheduled flights to domestic cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Kunming. Additionally, the Chongqing-Wanzhou Freeway, the Wanzhou-Yichang Freeway, State Highway 318, the Chengdu-Wanzhou Railway and the Daxian-Wanzhou Railway run through the zone.
Wanzhou District, where Chongqing Yudong EDZ is situated, is located in the north central part of Chongqing. Chongqing Yudong EDZ has three subsidiary areas: Longteng Industrial Park, Guanyin Rock Area and Jinlong Area.
Longteng Industrial Park’s pillar industries include fine chemicals, machinery processing, electronic appliances, garment production, printing and packaging, and warehousing logistics.
Guanyin Rock Area is mainly engaged in administrative services, information technology, automotive trading, decoration and building materials, real estate development and public welfare facilities. An Automobile Street has been built within the area.
Jinlong Area, with a land area of 1.6 sq km, focuses on the development of education, culture, public health, tourism and high-end villas. One major construction program located in this area is the Three Gorge Pearl Hotel, a four-star hotel.
Industrial parks rated B are viewed as poorly established. Much effort is necessary for the creation of an attractive investment environment in these parks. There are 45 with ‘B’ rating among the 254 national or municipal-level industrial parks located across the country.
