China Knowledge Press, June 2011, Pages: 25
Chongqing Yunyang Industrial Park (Chongqing Yunyang IP) rated “B” by China Knowledge in a research report published today. The industrial park was approved and established by the Chongqing municipal government in 2003 as a municipal-level development park.
Yunyang County, the home county of Chongqing Yunyang IP, is located in the northeastern part of Chongqing, 300 km from Chongqing’s downtown, 260 km from the Three Gorges Dam and 78 km from Wanzhou County. The Yunyang-Wanzhou Freeway connects Yunyang County with Wanzhou Port, which has an annual throughput of 1 million standard containers, Wanzhou Regional Airport and Wanzhou Railway Station. The Shanghai-Chengdu Freeway and Chongqing-Zhengzhou Freeway run across the county.
Yunyang is rich in mineral resources and is a popular tourist destination. Reserves of quartz powder amount to 670 million tons, ranking fourth in China. Longgang National Geological Park and Zhangfei Temple, which is a national AAAA-level scenery spot, are located in the county.
From 2003 to 2008, the contracted investment of Chongqing Yunyang IP amounted to RMB 4.6 billion, and the utilized investment amounted to RMB 663 million. Industrial output during this period totaled RMB 380 million. Chongqing Yunyang IP’s pillar industries are mineral processing, agricultural products processing, equipment manufacturing and chemicals.
Enterprises in these industries include Chongqing Jinyi Silicon Materials Development, Yurun Group, Zirui Auto Parts Manufacturing and Chongqing Champion Chemical. By April 2010, approximately 30 enterprises had settled in the park. In 2009, gross industrial output of the park reached RMB 1.02 billion.
Industrial parks rated B are viewed as poorly established. Much effort is necessary for the creation of an attractive investment environment in these parks. There are 45 with ‘B’ rating among the 254 national or municipal-level industrial parks located across the country.
