Guilin High-tech Industrial Development Zone

Guilin High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiling HIDZ) rated “BBB” by China Knowledge in a research report published today. Located in Guilin, a famous tourist city in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, high-tech industrial development zone was established in May 1988 and approved by the State Council in March 1991 as a state-level high-tech industrial development zone.
Guilin HIDZ has a well-developed transportation network. It takes only about 5 hours to drive to Guangzhou and Beibu Gulf Port, one of the most important ports from inland China to Southeast Asia, via expressway. The city’s railway connects directly to Liuzhou, an important railway hub in China. In addition, it is convenient to get from Guilin HIDZ to Liangjiang International Airport. The airport offers more than 60 flights to cities in China and overseas.
Last year, the GDP of Guilin HIDZ was over RMB 11 billion and accounted for about 10% of the city’s total. The gross industrial output of the zone was RMB 46.0 billion, and its utilized foreign direct investment (FDI) exceeded US$40 million.
The zone has five pillar industries with complete industrial chains. They are electronic information, mechanical and electronic integration, new materials, biopharmaceuticals and environmental protection. Representative enterprises include NEC, Guilin Stars Electric Power Electronic Technique Development Co Ltd, Guilin International Electric Wire & Cable Co Ltd, Guilin Sanjin Pharmaceutical Co Ltd and Guilin Reecat Environment Industry Co Ltd.
Guilin HIDZ also encourages investors to develop industries such as new energy, automobiles, rubber, machine tools and nonstaple agricultural products processing.
As of the end of 2010, more than 140 enterprises had been established in Guilin HIDZ.
