Nanning High-tech Industrial Development Zone

Nanning High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Nannning HIDZ) rated “A” by China Knowledge in a research report published today. Located in Nanning, which is the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the area was established in 1988 and approved by the State Council in 1992 as a state-level high-tech industrial development zone.
Nanning HIDZ is 3 km from the Nanning train station, 4 km from the downtown area, and 30 km from the Nanning International Airport. It is quite easy and convenient to travel via the city’s trunk roads.
In 2010, the gross industrial-output of Nanning HIDZ hit RMB 25.12 billion and accounted for 15% of the city’s total. In 2010, the contracted FDI reached US$92.71 million, while the utilized FDI of the zone was US$ 35.78 million.
At the end of 2010, Nanning HIDZ had over 4,000 registered enterprises, of which 126 were high-tech enterprises, with over 73,800 employees in total.
Nanning HIDZ’s pillar industries are pharmaceuticals and bioengineering, electrical and mechanical equipment manufacturing, new materials and electronics and information technology.
The zone has attracted many well-known enterprises. Examples include Foster Electric Hong Kong, Sinar Mas Group, Shanghai Fosun High Tech, China International Marine Containers and Shenzhou Jimmy Technology.
Industrial parks rated A have above-average investor appeal. Basic conditions are adequate, but improvements are still needed in some areas. There are 50 single A rated industrial parks among 254 rated by China Knowledge since 2003. This class of industrial parks that are mainly found in the Northeastern, Western and Central China, benefits from these regions’ lower labor cost.
