Pan-European eCall - how should you respond to legislation?
SBD, Sep 2011
eCall legislation is proposed to come into force at the end of 2014...
The landscape of the European telematics industry is set to change significantly following the European Commission’s (EC) recent internal decision to mandate public pan-European eCall on all newly Type Approved models. The EC is now pushing ahead with the processes to publically mandate eCall and requiring Member States to support eCall through their Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs).
Despite the recent decision to proceed with legislation, there remains many outstanding questions and issues that need to be resolved before public eCall can successfully be introduced into the mass market.
A new report from SBD entitled Pan-European eCall - responding to the legislation assesses these issues and provides recommendations to vehicle manufacturers and other stakeholders on their response to the mandate.
This report will help you: - Learn the results of the eCall public consultation, the attitudes of Member States and how this may affect implementation of the legislation - Understand the types of legislation under development for mobile network operators, member states, PSAPs and vehicle manufacturers - Assess the potential impact of legislation and most likely deployment scenario - Decide a strategic direction in offering eCall and in what markets
