Commercial Silicon Market Research in the CIS (Russian Version)
INFOMINE Research Group, July 2010, Pages: 165
This report focuses on market research of commercial silicon in the CIS countries, including current position of company-producers as well as consumption of these products.
The report consists of eight chapters, containing 165 pages, 38 figures, 60 tables and annexes.
The first chapter of the report is devoted to the world market of commercial silicon and presents data on production, imports, exports and pricing.
In the second chapter of the report, the raw material base of quartzite for the production of silicon in the CIS countries is considered, including data on reserves of large deposits, properties requirements imposed, suitability for the production of silicon, and features of quartzite mining.
The third chapter is devoted to the production of silicon in the CIS countries. It presents data on output volumes and the dynamics of production. In addition, the chapter describes the features of reducing agents used in the manufacture of commercial silicon, including their state of production in Russia, the supply of reducing agents to the silicon manufacturing plants, and issues related to improving quality of the products - such as methods of refining silicon and new production developments.
The fourth chapter analyzes the current position of silicon producers in Russia and Ukraine in 2000-2009, as well as considering new projects for the production of commercial silicon in Kazakhstan. This section provides statistical data on production volumes of silicon in all key enterprises, describing their current situation, and the trends and volumes of supplies of raw materials for the companies over the past 3-4 years.
In the fifth chapter of the report foreign trade operations of silicon in Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan are considered. The chapter examines the dynamics of exports and imports, describes trends in the exports and the imports, analyzes export and import prices, and provides data on volumes and destinations of the supplies of the largest exporters and importers of silicon.
The sixth chapter of the report is devoted to consumption of silicon in Russia. This chapter provides the supply-demand balance of silicon, as well as the estimated sectoral structure of consumption. In addition, the chapter describes the production technology of various alumino-silicon alloys. Also it presents data on volumes and destinations of supplies of silicon to enterprise-producers of alumino-silicon alloys, both primary and secondary, as well as to rolling and engine plants: which are major consumers of these products. The situation in the production of organosilicone products in Russia is also analysed.
The seventh chapter is devoted to consumption of silicon in Ukraine. This section provides the supply-demand balance of silicon, as well as the estimated sectoral structure of consumption in 2008. It also describes the current position of the largest consumers of these products in Ukraine: PO Kremniypolimer, JV Intersplav and LLC Orisil-Kalush.
In the ninth and final chapter forecasts of commercial silicon market development in the CIS countries up to 2015 are presented.
The annexes to the report provide silicon specifications (GOST) effective in the CIS, and also describe the products of manufacturers of silicone compounds and their end-uses, as well as providing the contact data of producers and major consumers of silicon in the CIS countries.
