'A' Underlying Ratings On St. Lawrence University, NY Affirmed On Continued Solid Enrollment And Demand Trends May 09

Abstract BOSTON (Standard & Poor's) May 8, 2009--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services affirmed its 'A' underlying rating (SPUR), with a positive outlook, on the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York's series 2001A, 2005, and 2008 bonds issued for St. Lawrence University. Standard & Poor's based its affirmation on the university's continued solid enrollment and demand, stable financial operations, and successful fundraising. Offsetting credit factors include a tuition discount that remains above average at more than 40% for fiscal 2008; and while St. Lawrence appears to be managing enrollment well, demographic trends in its traditional recruiting areas indicate declines in high school graduates.
