The rating on the Town of Sandwich, Mass.' bonds is based on the full faith and credit of the town and reflects: Expanding population and property values, Access to a diverse regional economic base, Above-average income levels, and Historically strong financial performance and position. These strengths are somewhat offset by a growing debt burden and continued capital needs. Sandwich, located 60 miles south of Boston, is a growing residential year-round community in Barnstable County. While being the oldest incorporated town on Cape Cod, population growth has been relatively recent. The town's 2000 estimated population is slightly more than 21,000, up nearly 36% from 1990, and represents an estimated 80% of buildout.
