Turkish Logistics Industry Research 2011
Quattro Business Consulting, July 2011, Pages: 105
The aim of Turkish Logistics Industry Research 2011 is to profile a logistics industry that is growing rapidly and continuously in Turkey, as well as all over the world, and to provide logistic service providers and their customers with accurate, scientific and up-to-date information.
This is the only real ‘Logistics Industry Research’ carried out in Turkey after TLIR 2008 conducted by Quattro Business Consulting, as well in terms of resources, geographical extent, industrial scope and content.
Some of the questions answered by the research include:
- What are the services offered or planned to be offered in the near future by logistic service providers? - What are the industry-specific logistic services? - What are customer expectations from logistic service providers? - What are the logistic costs, service levels, customer satisfaction in relation to these services? - What are the services sought by customers in the near future? - What are the considerations of customers for choosing a logistic service provider? What is their selection process? - What are the scope and average terms of contracts between logistic service providers and their customers? - What are the effects of economic crisis on the Turkish logistics industry and what is the outlook for the market? - How are information systems utilized in the logistics industry and what is the level of utilization?
Based on the results of the Turkish Logistics Industry Research 2011, considered together with the information provided by TLIR 2002 and TLIR 2008, it is clear that the logistics industry is growing faster than the GNP of Turkey in recent years. This high growth rate influences the dynamics of the industry profoundly as well. It is not possible anymore to determine the changing dynamics and requirements of the logistics industry based only on the information and experiences of the past without intensive research.
TLIR 2011 examines not just the services provided by logistic service providers, but also the logistics activities conducted by customers with their own means. Thus, the new trends of the industry are revealed, as are all barriers and opportunities.
The future expectations of service providers are linked with customers' and analyzed together in order to obtain a comprehensive evaluation with a 360-degree perspective. Hence, it is searched whether the logistics industry planning the projects to be implemented based on the expectations of the target group or not.
Presenting a clear profile of the logistics industry is a long-term process. Therefore, this research and suchlike studies being repeated in the future as well and continuously reviewing the fields to be focused and the research variables in line with the results of this research and collecting and analyzing the relevant data are extremely important and necessary.
