Croatia Consumer Electronics Report Q1 2012
Business Monitor International, Dec 2011, Pages: 43
Business Monitor International's Croatia Consumer Electronics Report provides industry professionals and strategists, corporate analysts, electronics associations, government departments and regulatory bodies with independent forecasts and competitive intelligence on Croatia's consumer electronics industry.
Croatia’s domestic consumer electronics devices market, defined as the addressable market for computing devices, mobile handsets and AV products, is projected to be worth around US$1.1bn in 2012. Demand is forecast to increase to US$1.3bn by 2016, driven by growing popularity of digital lifestyle products such as flat-screen TV sets, notebooks and digital cameras, as well as rising incomes and lower prices. Vendors should benefit from mostly improved trading conditions in 2011 with a recovery in private consumption translating into more consumers spending on durables such as computers and flat-screen TV sets. Consumer electronics retail sales drivers include growing affordability of digital products, retail channel expansion, digital TV conversion and 3G mobile network rollouts.
Computers: Computer hardware accounted for around 53% of Croatian consumer electronics spending in 2010. BMI forecasts Croatian domestic market computer hardware sales (including notebooks and accessories) of US$564mn in 2012. Computer hardware will be driven by sales of notebooks and netbooks.
AV: AV devices accounted for around 27% of Croatian consumer electronics spending in 2010. The Croatian domestic AV device market is forecast at US$262mn in 2012. Sales of TV sets are forecast to decelerate as many Croatians have already upgraded to flat-panel sets. Croatia continued its evolution towards digital TV with the switch-off of analogue broadcasting in late 2010.
Mobile Handsets: Mobile handset sales accounted for around 20% of Croatian consumer electronics spending in 2010. Croatian market handset sales are expected to grow to US$305mn in 2016, as mobile subscriber penetration reaches 154%. Sales will be dominated by the replacement market, with growing demand for high-end models and 3G handsets
