North America Public Safety Wireless Communication & Municipal Wireless Communication Market: Spending Analysis & Forecast (2007 - 2017)
Transparency Market Research, Dec 2011, Pages: 98
Limited spectrum availability for use in public safety applications and lack of dedicated communication infrastructure has been prime constraint for the communication efficacy among first responders in the U.S. and entire North America region. In February 2011, President Obama announced the new “National Wireless Initiative”, which calls for USD 10.7 billion support for deployment of nationwide interoperable wireless broadband network for public safety. The announcement has come as a booster for the public safety communication efficacy in the region. This will spur the deployment of network infrastructure and attract a number of stakeholders grab their pie in rejuvenated North American public safety market. The North America Public safety wireless communication spending reached USD 7,433.2 million in 2011.
With growing demand of public safety wireless communication in North America, the satellite communication is also moving a step ahead to compete with terrestrial communication network technologies. Satellite communication is crucial in the times of disaster and emergencies where terrestrial communication does not work. Satellite communication accounted for about 6% of overall North America public safety spending and about 16% of the North America Public Safety Network Technology spending in 2011. FSS accounted for the larger share of North America Satellite Communication spending with about 70% spending share.
Infrastructure development and services market are showing high growth rate and will continue growing with comparable pace over the next seven years. The public safety devices and equipment market is expected to grow at faster pace two years in North America where the infrastructure growth will give a strong background in development of wireless technologies.
