UK General Insurance Competitor Tracker Q3
Datamonitor, Dec 2011, Pages: 16
The general insurance market continues to face challenging times, with claims costs leading to a focus on corrective underwriting action among leading insurers. Datamonitor compares how the top 5 insurers have performed in the third quarter of 2011 and includes information on a range of issues including financial performance, changes in strategy and the latest developments across product lines.
Scope:
- Compare your company’s strategy against those implemented by the top five UK insurers; Aviva, AXA, RBSI, RSA and Zurich. - Gain insight into their latest developments and new products across personal and commercial lines. - Compare your financial performance with these companies across Q3 and nine-month figures.
Highlights:
- Aviva’s Q3 2011 results presented the strongest performance within the top five insurers against Q3 2010, with 6.2% growth leading to general insurance and health net written premiums (NWP) of £1,244m for the quarter. - Direct Line has launched a pilot on telematics. While interest in telematics has been growing in the past year with other insurers announcing similar plans, its adoption by the UK’s largest personal lines insurer could provide the major shift for the technology's use in the market. - AXA Commercial has continued to develop its multi-channel distribution strategy, revealed in August, in pursuit of its goal to attain revenues of £1.2bn and a COR of 95% by 2015. A new development team has been unveiled to drive broker and e-commerce propositions as well as identifying business line and product development opportunities.
