Abstract
MELBOURNE -- Standard & Poor's CreditWire 2/12/1999 -- Standard & Poor's today placed its single-'A' long-term and the 'A-1' short-term counterparty credit ratings of Bankers Trust Australia Ltd. (BTAL) and units on CreditWatch with developing implications. The CreditWatch action replaces the action on Nov. 28, 1998, where BTAL's ratings were placed on CreditWatch with positive implications. Today's action follows the announcement that BTAL's investment banking operations will not form part of the proposed merger between Bankers Trust Corp. and Deutsche Bank AG, and is to be sold separately. For BTAL, whether the ratings are raised, lowered, or affirmed will depend on the financial strength of the future owner and the possible corporate structure in which BTAL is placed. BTAL is...
