Research Update: Tembec Inc., Tembec Industries Inc. Ratings Raised To 'B-', Off Watch; Ratings Withdrawn Jun 08

On June 10, 2008, Standard & Poor's Ratings Services raised the long-term corporate credit ratings on Montreal-based Tembec Inc. and Tembec Industries Inc. (collectively, Tembec) to 'B-' from 'CC'. At the same time, we removed the ratings on both companies from CreditWatch positive, where they were placed March 3. The outlook on Tembec is negative. The upgrade reflects Standard & Poor's assessment, based on public information only, that the company's credit profile has improved after converting its unsecured debt into equity this past February; however, Tembec still faces challenging market conditions in its forest products and paper divisions.
