Standard & Poors, June 2002
Abstract Standard & Poor's said today that today's announcement that Sweden-based electric utility Vattenfall AB (A-/Negative/A-2) is to acquire the City of Hamburg's 25.1% minority stake in Germany-based utility Hamburgische Electricit-ts-Werke AG (HEW) will have no effect on the ratings or outlook on Vattenfall. The -869 million ($820 million) acquisition will increase Vattenfall's control over its German operation Vattenfall Europe. This has been anticipated and is factored into the current ratings.
