Abstract Brazilian bank Banco do Brasil showed adequate financial performance during a challenging year. We are affirming our ratings on the bank. We believe Banco do Brasil's financial performance will improve in 2010. SAO PAULO (Standard & Poor's) March 12, 2010--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said today that it affirmed its foreign-currency counterparty credit rating on Banco do Brasil S.A. (BdB) at 'BBB-/A-3'. At the same time, we affirmed the 'BBB-' long-term local-currency corporate credit rating. The outlook is stable. Our ratings on BdB reflect its franchise, the strength of its stand-alone credit profile, and the strong ties to its ultimate shareholder, the Federative Republic of Brazil (FC: BBB-/Stable/A-3; LC: BBB+/Stable/A-2; NS: brAAA/Stable/--).
