Abstract The Brazilian financial system benefits from the size and potential of the country's economy and has the long-term potential to become Latin America's strongest. Brazil has some of the most resilient banks in the region. They are well automated, well capitalized, and profitable. Nevertheless, broadly in line with other Latin American countries, the operating environment continues to pose relevant challenges. Significant improvements have been observed in the Brazilian financial system in recent years.
