Abstract NEW YORK (Standard & Poor's) Oct. 3, 2006--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said today that it affirmed its 'BB' long-term counterparty credit rating on Banco do Brasil S.A. The outlook is stable. 'The rating on Banco do Brasil reflects the large, direct exposure to sovereign credit risk in the form of marketable securities, the higher segment concentration of the loan portfolio resulting from its public-sector mission, and the lower core profitability and relatively weak intrinsic quality of the bank's capital base in comparison with its peers in the private sector,' said Standard & Poor's credit analyst Daniel Araujo.
