Research Update: First National Bank of Omaha 'BBB-' Rating Affirmed; Outlook Remains Stable Dec 11

Abstract
Following a review of First National of Nebraska, the parent company of First National Bank of Omaha, under Standard & Poor's revised bank criteria (published on Nov. 9, 2011), we have affirmed our 'BBB-' issuer credit rating on First National Bank of Omaha (FNB). The outlook remains stable. Our ratings on FNB reflect our anchor of 'bbb+' for banks operating in the U.S., as well as First National of Nebraska's moderate business position, adequate capital and earnings, moderate risk position, average funding, and adequate liquidity. Although low interest rates may limit margin expansion, we believe that lower provisions and resumed growth in First National of Nebraska's credit card portfolio should enable the firm to maintain adequate capital and earnings.
