Abstract
Following a review under Standard & Poor's revised bank criteria (published on Nov. 9, 2011), we have affirmed our 'A+/A-1' long- and short-term ratings on Qatar National Bank. Our ratings on Qatar National Bank reflect the bank's 'bbb' anchor and our view of its strong business position, strong capital and earnings, adequate risk position, average funding, and strong liquidity, as our criteria define these terms. The long-term rating on Qatar National Bank benefits from two notches of uplift for potential extraordinary government support in case of need. The stable outlook balances Qatar National Bank's dominant commercial position, strong capital and earnings, and overall stability in the shareholding structure with potential occasional pressure from its operating environment.
