Abstract
BOSTON (Standard & Poor's) Dec. 14, 2011--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services has assigned its 'AA+' long-term rating and 'A' school issuer credit rating (ICR) to Wilkes County School District, Ga.'s $9.44 million series 2011 general obligation (GO) refunding bonds. The outlook is stable. The 'A' school ICR reflects Standard & Poor's view of the district's: Somewhat limited local economy, with access to Athens and Augusta, Ga., for employment opportunities; Adequate income levels and very strong per capita market valuation; Very strong financial position, somewhat offset by the district's recent history of inconsistent financial results and its exposure to potential state aid cuts; and Low debt burden.
