Abstract
On Dec. 15, 2011, Standard & Poor's Ratings Services affirmed its 'Api' counterparty credit and financial strength ratings on Sentry Life Insurance Co. (SLIC) and Sentry Life Insurance Co. of NY (SLICNY), collectively Sentry Life. The ratings on Sentry Life reflect the company's very strong consolidated capital adequacy and liquidity, as measured by our models, and very strong operating performance, based on its statutory pretax return on assets. Although the company manages its investment portfolio conservatively, in terms of asset allocations, its investment returns are consistently strong, which supports its strong earnings.
