BULLETIN: Investigation Of Dole Food, Del Monte, And Fresh Del Monte Does Not Affect Ratings Jun 05

Abstract NEW YORK (Standard & Poor's) June 3, 2005--On June 2, 2005, the European Commission launched an investigation of Dole Food Co. Inc. (BB-/Negative/B-2), Del Monte Foods Co. (BB-/Positive/B-1), Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. (BB/Stable/--), and other European fruit and vegetable distributors, having reason to believe that they may have violated European Union competition laws. Although these allegations are a concern, Standard & Poor's believes it would be premature to take any rating or outlook actions given the lack of information available at this point and the inconclusive nature of the investigation. Standard & Poor's will continue to closely monitor developments with the ongoing European Commission investigation and assess the effect of any material developments on the companies' ratings and outlooks...
