Abstract
NEW YORK (Standard & Poor's) Dec. 27, 2011--The outlook for credit quality in the U.S. capital goods sector remains broadly stable as 2012 approaches, according to Standard & Poor's Ratings Services in a recently published industry report. Downside risks remain high in light of the uncertainty in the global economy stemming from the sovereign debt crisis in Europe and the still-fragile U.S. recovery. But so far, the recovery has proven resilient against shocks such as continued political failures of the U.S. government and the impact of turmoil in the Middle East.
