NEW YORK (Standard & Poor's) Sept. 8, 2008--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services raised its general obligation (GO) rating, with a stable outlook, on Denver City and County, Colo. to 'AAA' from 'AA+'. The upgrade is due to the city's presence as the economic center of the Colorado Front Range and consistently health financial performance, including historical maintenance of very strong fund balances and prudent management of city budgets. At the same time, Standard & Poor's raised the rating on various city lease secured obligations to 'AA+' from 'AA', reflecting the city's pledge to appropriate lease payments.
