BULLETIN: Boeing's Move Not Expected to Affect Seattle Municipal Ratings Mar 01

Abstract The announcement yesterday by Boeing Corporation that it will relocate its corporate headquarters out of King County, Wash. to either Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver, or Chicago, is not expected to have a significant impact on the Seattle area's economic base over the longer term. While Boeing's departure from its long-time home in the Seattle area is noteworthy, it is expected to cost the area only about 500 jobs out of an employment base of more than three million. As a result, Standard & Poor's does not anticipate any municipal government rating actions due to the move. Boeing said that an important factor in its decision about where to relocate will be the tax incentives offered by the potential new home-site cities....
