Wichita, KS' GO Bonds Assigned 'AA+' Rating Jan 11

Abstract
DALLAS (Standard & Poor's) Jan. 7, 2011--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services assigned its 'AA+' long-term rating to Wichita, Kan.'s series 2011A general obligation (GO) airport bonds, series 2011B GO airport bonds (subject to alternative minimum tax), and series 804 GO bonds. At the same time, Standard & Poor's affirmed its 'AA+' long-term rating and underlying rating (SPUR) on Wichita's outstanding GO debt. The outlook on all ratings is stable. "The ratings reflect our opinion of the city's status as a regional trade center and manufacturing- and service-based economy, strong general fund reserves, and conservative and sophisticated financial management policies that include long-range budget and capital plans," said Standard & Poor's credit analyst Russell Bryce.
