Abstract Standard & Poor's has identified three key industry trends impacting the European broadcasting and entertainment arena. 1. The development of pay-TV markets and the transition of terrestrial TV to digital is increasing opportunities and risks within key Western European TV markets. 2. The commercialization of television in the former communist and other developing European economies has resulted in the emergence of rated TV broadcasters in these regions.
