Abstract Standard & Poor's today has placed its double-'A' claims-paying ability rating of American States Intercompany Pool on Creditwatch with developing implications following the announcement that its parent, American States Financial Corp., is exploring a range of strategic options including the potential sale of 100% of the company. The rating of American States Intercompany reflects solely the strength of its own operations and does not imput any implicit or explicit support from Lincoln National Corp., which owns 83% of American States Financial.
