On Aug. 15, 2002, Standard & Poor's Ratings Services placed the double-'A'-minus long-term and 'A-1'-plus short-term counterparty credit ratings of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. on CreditWatch with negative implications. The double-'A' long-term counteparty credit ratings of the operating bank subsidiaries, including JPMorganChase Bank (JPM), were also placed on CreditWatch with negative implications, but the 'A-1'-plus short-term ratings of these entities are affirmed. If the ratings are lowered, they are not expected to fall below an 'A'-plus long-term and an 'A-1' short-term rating for the holding company, and a double-'A'-minus long-term rating for the bank.
