The telecommunications industry is one of the driving forces behind the economic development of any country. In Latin America, regulators have recently taken major steps to encourage telecoms, seeking mainly to promote healthy competition. A series of initiatives seek to improve infrastructure, expand coverage, ensure service quality, and keep telecommunications services affordable to their populations.
