BULLETIN: State of Israel Ratings Not Affected By Prime Minister's Serious Illness Jan 06

Abstract LONDON (Standard & Poor's) Jan. 5, 2006--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said today that its sovereign credit ratings on the State of Israel (foreign currency A-/Stable/A-1; local currency A+/Stable/A-1) were not affected by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's serious illness. After suffering a severe stroke yesterday, Mr. Sharon is currently hospitalized and remains in a critical condition. Power has officially been transferred to Deputy Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who is likely to be acting prime minister until the general election currently scheduled for March 28, 2006.
