Abstract
Standard and Poor's Rating Services' corporate credit rating on Denver-based Whiting Petroleum Corp. reflects the company's leading acreage position in the oil-rich Bakken shale; a production mix weighted toward oil, for which price realizations are significantly higher than natural gas; and the company's low debt leverage. The rating also reflects Whiting's history of making sizeable acquisitions, mature reserve base, and our estimate that the company will outspend operating cash flows in 2011 and 2012.
