Abstract
The 2012 credit outlook for the U.S. investor-owned regulated electric utility industry will likely remain stable, in Standard & Poor's Ratings Services view. Although Standard & Poor's economists anticipate the U.S. economy to remain relatively weak, we expect ratings stability for the sector based on likely sustained demand for a critical product, responsive regulatory attention to cost recovery for needed capital investments, and investors' continued appetite for utility debt and equity offerings.
