The 'BBB-' corporate credit rating on Allegheny Energy Supply LLC (Allegheny Supply) factors the merger proposal between FirstEnergy Corp. and Allegheny Supply's parent, Allegheny Energy Inc. A successful merger will somewhat improve the credit profile of Allegheny Energy. On a stand-alone basis, the ratings on Allegheny Supply reflect the credit quality of Allegheny Energy. The companies have already received approval for the merger from the Virginia State Corporation Commission, The West Virginia Public Service Commission, and The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, but await approval from Maryland and Pennsylvania.
