Abstract
Most European stocks started this week in the red, with traders unnerved about the unrest in Egypt. The S&P Europe 350 Index closed Monday at 1,147, down slightly further after Friday's 1% drop. Separately, some investors may also be starting to become a little concerned about inflation. The European Union's statistics office said on Monday that the Eurostat eurozone inflation consumer price index (CPI) rose 2.4% in January, up from 2.2% in December. Analysts expected a 2.3% increase. Inflation has steadily increased since August 2009 and now exceeds the level recorded in October 2007, just before inflation rose to just above 4% in September 2008.
