Abstract The Finnish economy has fared very well in recent years, and consequently the country's banks have benefited. The domestic real estate market is once more buoyant, and prices are driven by the relocation of the Finnish population to a handful of regional centers and in particular to the greater Helsinki area. Behind the change is the growth of service industries and companies like Nokia, Finland's world-leading company in mobile phone technology. Financial leverage in the Finnish economy continues to be modest in comparison with regional peers.
