Abstract
Standard & Poor's Ratings Services raised its foreign-currency sovereign credit rating on Brazil to 'BBB-' in April 2008 and has kept it at that level for more than three years. However, in November 2011, we raised that rating to 'BBB' (see Brazil Sovereign Rating Raised To -BBB-, Based On Growing Ability To Withstand Global Economic Deterioration, published Nov. 17, 2011, on RatingsDirect). Mexico, Peru, Panama, and Colombia in Latin America; and Russia, India, China, and South Africa globally are its low-rated investment-grade sovereign peers.
