Russian Steel and Rolled Steel Production, Market (1998-2011) and Forecast (until 2020)
INFOMINE Research Group, October 2011, Pages: 710
This report is devoted to the investigation of the current state of the Russian steel market and a forecast of its development in the coming years. The report consists of 12 Sections of 710 pages, including 128 tables, 56 figures.
The first section describes the general characteristics of Russia's steel industry. It is divided into 12 chapters.
The first chapter describes the economic situation in the industry after the global economic crisis. The chapter shows the financial performance of major metallurgical enterprises of the sector in 2007-2010.
The second chapter presents an analysis of production from 1970 to 2010 and the first half of 2011 - and the use of existing facilities.
The third chapter is devoted to a brief description of the main Russian producers of steel and rolled products - with production data ranging from 1993 to 2010.
The fourth chapter describes the situation of the raw material for production of steel, including: iron ore and pellets, pig iron, scrap, direct reduced iron and hot briquetted iron). For all types of raw material, data is given for its production during the 1993-2010 period and the first half of 2011 - broken down by company-producers, internal and external supply in 1995-2010, average domestic prices of primary producers in 2002-2010 and the first half of 2011, as well as export prices.
The fifth chapter is devoted to the problems of restructuring Russia's steel industry. It describes the main government program for the strategic development of the Russian metallurgical industry by 2015, featuring data on investment projects implemented by various enterprises of the industry.
The sixth chapter gives the main results of privatization in the Russian steel industry.
The seventh chapter is devoted to the export markets of Russian metallurgical enterprises. Data is presented on Russian exports and imports over 1998-2010, featuring the main products of billets, wire rods, bars, fittings, profiles, hot-rolled sheet, cold rolled sheet proc, and coated sheets.
The eighth chapter provides an analysis of the domestic consumption of finished steel in Russia from 1998 to 2010. A separate analysis of consumption of finished steel in the major consuming industries of Russia - engineering, construction, pipe industry - is also provided.
The ninth chapter provides a detailed analysis of the supply of steel during 2007-2010, with exact data for three years of the consumption of steel enterprises with consumption of more than 50 thousand tons per year. It also shows the regional pattern of consumption of finished steel by regions of Russia.
In the tenth chapter is a detailed list of the key factors influencing the pricing of steel products in Russia (electricity, conventional fuel and rail).
The eleventh chapter provides an analysis of internal and external prices of major steel products in 2005-2010, and the first half of 2011 on a monthly basis.
In the twelfth and final chapter of the first section is presented a forecast of production and consumption of steel and rolled steel in Russia until 2020.
The second section of the report is devoted to a detailed description of the nine major steel companies in Russia: Severstal, MMK, NLMK, MMK, OEMK, Ural Steel, NTMK, ZSMK and NKMK.
For each plant is given a brief historical background, capacities, range of products, data on its production from 1997 through 2010, the main trends of the company, sources and suppliers of raw materials, organization of marketing (both domestic as well as on foreign markets), export data for 1998-2010 by country and by product, evaluation of the competitiveness of products in different markets, data on personnel and labor productivity, a description of environmental protection, privatization history, organisational structure, its shareholders and owners, the financial position in recent years, a description of completed projects and software development.
Attached to each company is a description of its main equipment and its characteristics, the of products and their characteristics, and the export of rolled steel over the last 10 years broken down by country.
This work is a desk-based research. Information sources include Rosstat, Federal Customs Service of Russia, and official statistics domestic railage. Also used were the sectoral and regional press, annual and quarterly reports of companies, websites of company, as well as information database companies and the propietary database of InfoMine.
