INFOMINE Research Group, October 2011, Pages: 164
This report is devoted to an investigation of current state of the Russian steel market and a forecast of its development over the coming years. The report consists of 12 Sections of 164 pages, including 46 tables, 19 figures and 3 appendices.
The first chapter describes the economic situation in the industry after the global economic crisis. The chapter shows the financial performance of major metallurgical enterprises of the sector in 2007-2010.
The second chapter presents an analysis of production from 1970 to 2010 and the first half of 2011, and the use of existing facilities.
The third chapter is devoted to a brief description of the main Russian producers of steel and rolled products - featuring the main products from 1993 to 2010.
The fourth chapter describes the situation with the raw material for production of steel (iron ore and pellets, pig iron, scrap, direct reduced iron and hot briquetted iron). For all types of raw material data is given for its production in the 1993-2010 years and the first half of 2011: broken down by company-producers, the dynamics of internal and external supply in 1995-2010, the dynamics of average domestic prices of primary producers in 2002-2010 and the first half of 2011, as well as the dynamics of export prices.
The fifth chapter is devoted to the problems of restructuring Russia's steel industry. It describes the main government program for the strategic development of the Russian metallurgical industry in 2015, with data on investment projects implemented by various enterprises of the industry.
The sixth chapter gives the main results of privatization in the Russian steel industry.
The seventh chapter is devoted to the export markets of Russian metallurgical enterprises. Data is presented on Russian exports and imports during the 1998-2010 period and the main products: billets, wire rods, bars, fittings, profiles, hot-rolled sheet, cold rolled sheet proc and coated sheets.
The eighth chapter provides an analysis of the domestic consumption of finished steel in Russia from 1998 to 2010. A separate analysis is provided on the consumption of finished steel by the major consuming industries of Russia - engineering, construction, pipe industry.
The ninth chapter provides a detailed analysis of the supply of steel in 2007-2010, featuring exact data for three years on the consumption of steel by enterprises that consume more than 50 thousand tons per year. This chapter shows the regional pattern of consumption of finished steel by the regions of Russia.
The tenth chapter lists the key factors influencing the pricing of steel products in Russia (electricity, conventional fuel and rail).
The eleventh chapter provides an analysis of internal and external prices of major steel products in 2005-2010 and the first half of 2011 on a monthly basis.
In the twelfth and final chapter is a forecast of production and consumption of steel and rolled steel in Russia to 2020.
Appendix 1 shows the output of steel in major Russian enterprises by type of process in 1998-2010. Appendix 2 shows the production of finished steel in Russia during the 1998-2010 period . Appendix 3 lists the contact information of the key players.
This report is the result of desk-based research. Information sources include Rosstat, Federal Customs Service of Russia, official statistics domestic railage, data of sectoral and regional press, annual and quarterly reports of companies, web-sites of companies, as well as a proprietary database.
