Report Card: Asia-Pacific Sovereigns: Mixed Outlook In An Uncertain Year Mar 12

Abstract
As anticipated in our previous report card, we've had no sovereign upgrade in Asia-Pacific over the past six months (see "Asia-Pacific Sovereigns: Is The Positive Rating Trend On Hold?" published Sept. 19, 2011, on RatingsDirect on the Global Credit Portal). A couple of new positive outlooks have been balanced by an even greater number of downgrades, although the latter was partly driven by criteria changes. Between late September 2011 and March this year, Standard & Poor's Ratings Services downgraded three foreign-currency sovereign ratings in the region (see table 1).
