Abstract
The general trends in the U.S. telecom and cable industry continued in the second quarter of 2011. For wireline operators, we continue to see access lines being lost, with the pace of annual erosion of the most vulnerable segment, residential customers, ranging from around 4% to the low-double-digit area. Although some residential access lines are still being lost to cable telephony, we view the loss of residential access lines to wireless substitution as a more analytically substantive and enduring trend.
