Abstract
SINGAPORE (Standard & Poor's) Oct. 11, 2004--Thailand's domestic banking sector is poised for a shake-up with likely industry consolidation, although large-scale mergers and acquisitions are not expected in the short term, Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said in a report released today. The Ministry of Finance is expected to announce the number of financial institutions that will be allowed to operate under the Financial Sector Master Plan by late January 2005.
